For once the weather was about right. Looks like Auckland had more wind than those at Waihi, I see most had 4 metres, only Debs with a 3.

The idea for this race started with a chat between a few club members who were keen to take up the challenge at Kariotahi beach.

Yesterday ended up a great day with easterly winds all afternoon. Everyone started with 3 metre sails for the "round the mountain" track.

Forecast is still for plenty of wind tomorrow. May pay to shake out the moths and pack the 3 metre sail. Hopefully not too much rain.

The beach is on! Predicted to be 20+ knts west to SW this afternoon. Low tide west coast about 12.30. Meet Kariotahi around 11 and set up on grass by carpark then head south.

A good night to start the 2008 year at BPP. 10-12 knots of breeze from the right direction. About 20 turned up for the night with Orca showing his prowess with his new 5.

Finally, a day with good winds and fine weather, plus of course good food and company. Sunny and hot and with 12+ knts of breeze most of the day sailing without POD or carbons...

Bearings changed, bags packed, 2 metre sail thrown out! Weather forecast has changed overnight. Now looks SW - SSW for Friday, blowing 12 - 15 knts in the afternoon.

I went to Kariotahi, was really good there was three others there, the sand was nice and hard. We had nice long runs up and down the beach no tacking, all had 3 metre sails on.
