Discussion message RE: BBC Race Day Results

Hi Grant 2 I was very voluble about 5.5s and preserving minimum wind speeds at competitions earlier this year but at the risk of being boring here goes: 1.

Discussion message Re: Puncture Prevention?

Karters Short version: It works! Long Version: While Chris and I at BPP where playing silly buggers, with our poor mans duce, and before Chris's little mishap (you had to be there to see me dragging him along on his side, all damage now repaired). I had a puncture in one of my Slimed tyres. It sprayed Slime gunge everywhere (all over Chis – hee hee) for about 6–10 rotations and then the hole was sealed, it was big!

Discussion message Puntcure Prevention?

Karters Chris and I are getting real good at repairing punctures, as between the pair of us we are running at about one per day at BPP. Somebody at the last race weekend mentioned they use old tubes and double up on the thickness of the tube, which seems like a good idea but we've not got any old tube yet. So I've been looking around and in the bicycle world have come across "Stan's Tyre Sealant" http://stanstiresealant.com/instructions.

Interesting comments Paul. If the wind looked good I'd cancel BPP and bring down NZs top sailors to have a go and bring back the silverware. My problem of course is I can only get worse at this long distance stuff! but would have no problem beating the BoP Pups. Maybe the Capital Karters on home ground may have a slight advantage but experience and cunning overcomes any local knowledge. I guess this marathon is 100 km?

Discussion message RE: Yeppoon.....Results

Howdy All Results from The 2007 Australian Blokart Open As many of you will know the event was held at Rydges Capricorn Resort in Yeppoon Queensland. Thursday 15th Practice day, 10.30am saw a good number of karters already on the beach testing their skills on the hard surface, by 11.30 the wind was at 15knots plus and a few had changed from 4.0m sails down to 3.

Discussion message RE: stub axle design discussion

Originally sent by: Paul Beckett Hi To Karters The reason for the stub axle having a 15mm shaft is that it is considered more than adequate for the blokart when used on the smooth flat surfaces it was designed for. I am 100kg and have bent two in 6 years, generally after a fairly messy get-off! The rental fleet we run uses the 15mm axle and has stood up well.

Discussion message Teams racing Sunday

Originally sent by: Russell Fine weather, gently winds, nice and warm. That was last week. For the Teams Racing Event we had rain, not much wind to start but rising during the day. In fact the prediction was for about 35 knts and I was thinking, "too much wind" for park sailing and was looking at grass courses.

Discussion message NZ Open

Originally sent by: Paul Beckett Hi and a big thanks to all competitors and families that turned up to make the event such a great success. Dare I tell you the wind came in on Tuesday and has been blowing by 10 am every day since? The karters who turned up the last two days have had a ball with speeds approaching 60kph. The last of the US team have got the track wired with only one of them turning into the "Girlyman".

Discussion message RE: Right of way??

Originally sent by: Don McKenzie All good points, Obviously the passing Kart in this situation was "locked" into an overlap situation whether is was five Kart lengths before the obstacle/marker becomes a debate which without a marshal who really knows. In these situations a very loud call needs to be made to make persons aware of a problem. I doubt whether anyone really wants to block or cause danger to others.

Discussion message RE: Nationals?

Originally sent by: Don McKenzie Hi Dave, The Track is not that bad, it can be as easy as you want it to be, it is quite wide and enough room for Karters with like competency levels. We only get problems when an inexperienced Karter makes sudden moves i.e. deviates from 'their' apparent line or a lighter Karter who gets blown onto your sailing line.

Discussion message Re: Auckland

Originally sent by: Russell Great day yesterday. 15 turned up to enjoy the good winds. Started at 20 knts and came up as the day progressed with some gusts getting close to 30, especially at the southern end where the wind was more constant. The wind had swung to more SSW so needed to tack to get down to the Waikato heads but it was worth it as karters played on the corner with the wind whistling around the bend. The trip back was quick.

Discussion message RE: blokart accident

Originally sent by: Paul Beckett Tim & Lee & any one else that interested! The issue of "Production" category is so that entrants to Karting are not disadvantaged. They buy their karts and that's it, they set up out of the box and go and not get discouraged by getting whipped by some deviate speed monger. So any rogering of masts etc. will be dealt with at scrutineering, and karts returned to stock.
