RE: BBC, Another excellent beach day
Hi Richard, Many thanks for the déjà vu! Reminds me of: 2 ¾ turn barrel roll on Orewa in a storm Kart went faster after the roll Only (very minor) bend in both side stays – pushed out with knees. These sorts of incidents highlight the blokart design feature that some things are meant to bend or break – like an axle when you hit something, and the mast which will bend. |

RE: mast storage bags
I think i remember that… We’re not that up north here in Belgium you know. We still get over 10°C here. Then again there’s no snow in the Alps either. Must be global warming… To be honest, we don’t have the lakes nor the cold temperatures to get them frozen! We had our nationals last month with 54 competitors. Lots of wind. |

RE: mast storage bags
A bag for CRB can be useful. They tend to break or split once you dropped them an hard surface… Nico Van: Ross Vickers [mailto:...] Verzonden: zaterdag 9 december 2006 20:24 Aan: ... Re: pulley whip
CRB's (Carbon Race Base) are two lower mast sections made from carbon fibre. They are more rigid than the normal mast sections so keep the mast straighter, which in turn provides a more efficient sail profile. They are an official blokart accessory available through your local blokart distributor. |

Re: pulley whip
Hi Rick CRB = Carbon Race Base. It used to apply to the bottom 2 sections (Base) of the mast where carbon fibre sections replaced the fibreglass ones. Now carbon fibre sections are available for the whole mast. But the name has tuck. |

Re: pulley whip
Please excuse me for my ignorance but what are CRB's? I am new to blokarting here in the USA. Rick |

Re: Auckland Thursday night
Surely Grant, Some of us SFB have little choice but to revert to CRB's and 4 meter sails. Hopefully you shared my pain at having to spend the best part of several races at the NZ Open Super Heavyweight Class 'wheelchairing' around the course in order to finish. |

Re: Auckland Thursday night
Looks like we're smokin' on Mailspaces too. After missing the migration from Smartgroups I've managed to connect without having to resort to a 4m + CRB! Many thanks on behalf of the sailors in the Twlight series Russell for organising and recording the latest series. |

OK, time for a collective groan...
It works, I'm here – yes really, I seem to have ticked all the correct boxes and clicked the correct buttons and now I'm here and I have to say I'm impressed. I thoroughly enjoyed the NZ Open and learned a great deal about blokart track racing. (One can only improve from coming last I suppose.lol! |

RE: NZ Opens
Originally sent by: kembro45 G'day All, Good Luck to all from Landsailing Victoria, hope you have a blast at the Open. If it's any consolation it got to 135km/h here last night http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDV65360/IDV65360.94893.shtml, hope it makes it over the ditch. We're off to hook up for the start of Speedweek on an 89km/h onshore, time for 2m with CRB's for the first time. |

Re: Akld Westies
Originally sent by: Denis Hi Richard, Hope your blast at Piha went well. About 7 blokarts were at Muriwai. A few of us were doing 60 km/h consistently down wind using a 3m with CRB. Sure beats racing on tar seal. |

Re: What is the top speed record for a Blokart?
Originally sent by: nicolas Hi Kem, Went for a ride yesterday in 40 knots yesterday. Had a 2m with CRB up. Another blokarter had a 3m up but couldn't hold it sometimes and went over quiet hard… With a 2m I was faster. Although we have only about a 400m run due to wavebreakers I had a topspeed of 83.3 km/h. One advise : don't use a pod in such high wind. I couldn't turn as quickly as I wanted at sometimes… Great fun anyway. |

Re: What is the top speed record for a Blokart?
Originally sent by: kembro45 Hey Mike, I have been told that the CRB's are more brittle, so I normally run the bigger winds over 30kts with the Std Mast. It gives a more flexible power delivery and the ability to freestyle without damaging the CRB's. From my experience it would be faster with a 2m & CRB in a constant 50+ knots. If it could take it, and you could afford the repairs. Much rougher ride though in the gusty conditions. |

RE: FW: Wear and tear on blokart parts
Originally sent by: Phil Ready Are you OK Paul? Did it hurt? I have been meaning to ask… I saw you with a similar sail size at Ivanpah… How did it happen? Is it highlighting an area that you need to work on? You weren't testing Oregon Mast sections!? I know how far the std mast bends without breaking. Re: blokart accident
Originally sent by: nonerd Unless there have been changes to the weight categories of which I am unaware, the so called 'heavyweight' division starts at 85 kilograms . For those of us, (and I believe there are quite a number) who tip the scales at 110kg + those at the low end of the weight category will still have a 25kg advantage – that's a sack of cement, or if you prefer, the weight of a standard blokart – hardly fair competition, unless they... |

RE: blokart accident
Originally sent by: Paul Beckett Tim & Lee & any one else that interested! The issue of "Production" category is so that entrants to Karting are not disadvantaged. They buy their karts and that's it, they set up out of the box and go and not get discouraged by getting whipped by some deviate speed monger. So any rogering of masts etc. will be dealt with at scrutineering, and karts returned to stock. |

RE: blokart accident
Originally sent by: tim Hi Paul, There are a couple of things we had thought of, At the Europeans people were push starting and getting out of karts during the race to try to get up wind faster. We feel it is better if you have to stay seated during the race, this makes it equal for all people, stiff old buggers, disabled, etc. |
