Auckland Thursday night
Well, it ended up with no wind. Unfortunately I was at another organisation and their commuter system was down so couldn't send out the OPTN message or email to postpone. |

Auckland Champs this weekend
Great practice night last night in preparation for this weekends event. Good wind and about 12-13 zooming around the track, some racing some just sailing. Good to see Giovanni turn up for a catch up after an absence because of work, even managed to get him in a kart for a sail, the grin was back! The 3 metre sailors were as fast as the 4 metres around the track. Made for some interesting competition as it puffed in about 15 knts. The champs. |

RE: Course design on tracks
Originally sent by: Russell Paul, I thought you were an expert! Was talking more about different types of surfaces. Russell Hi Barry and all, Track design is a biggie. I and we have some Ideas that may help. It would be great to kick it around when you have seen the track here and as to why the configuration is a Diamond has the dial-up area at the top (windward) end of the course. |

We only have one more set of crosses to place and the Prototype "BLOKART DIAMOND" Will be a reality. So let's see what you think. |

Re: RE: Australian "Specia;" Chumpionships
Originally sent by: nonerd It's pretty apparent that besides from that one issue, the champs were well organised and well run and those who were able to attend had a ball. Having said that, the issue of 'National titles' is an important one and should be debated. |

Re: Mikes queries on champs
Originally sent by: Mike Moody Russell, Good suggestion. And fewer marks makes it easier for race officials. We should probably have an information meeting the morning of the first day so everyone understands. We can tweak things as needed as the week goes on. |

Re: Mikes queries on champs
Originally sent by: Russell Hi Mike, Over at start. Rather than immediately turn to recross the line there was a mark about 50 metres up the course that had to be rounded and then go back and recross out of the traffic. This was a good idea because we were racing on a runway and had little room to go around the ends for long races but may be a bit harsh for short races. |

Re: Mikes queries on champs
Originally sent by: Mike Moody Russell, Thanks for all the great information. It will help when we get to Ivanpah as most of us hopefully will be on about the same page. One more question, were those that were over early at the start, handled just like a water sailboat race or some other method? |
