BBC race day

5 messages

Hi All,

Much improved weather forecast for Sunday compared to last Sunday, the forecasts is for 15 – 18 knots from the west which is ideal for the track and most likely the wind direction during the worlds.  If the wind forecast stays the same we may choose to start earlier so prepare yourselves it will be well worth getting up a little bit earlier to have a full days sailing in these conditions.  I have a few things that need to be sorted before I can confirm the start time so I will let you know later in the week.  As always if you can not make the first couple of races then let us know and then join in when you arrive.

If anyone is keen Saturday from lunchtime looks good at this stage for a run down the beach.  I can’t make it but the option is there.

Cheers

Richard

Hi All,

The wind forecast is still looking excellent for Sunday with 16 -20 knots of westerly blowing through, the racing will start at 10:30 registration from 10am.  If you are going to be late then text the club phone on 0273918300 so we can register you and you can start racing as soon as you arrive.  If you need to text if we cancel the race day then let me know and I will text you.

Cheers

Richard

The wind is going westerly late Saturday and staying at about 20 knts for Sunday.
Low tides on the west coast beaches a bit late so meet at BPP after lunch. Those who are going down to Papamoa for the race day please note the 10.30 start time. Need to be there about 9.45 to set up and register. Let me know if you can offer a ride or need a ride. I think most people have transport organised.

An early start for those making the trip - Grant, Graham L, Brian, Russell, Orca, Wayne, David and Nicko and Alex from Hamilton - but well worth it. The rain squall about 10.30 brought the wind for racing to start but then it was fine for the rest of the day. Thanks to the BBC members for vacating the track for an hour for the Aucklanders while the wind was up for some much needed practice.
The tricky down wind starts provided a challenge but it was good to get used to this system as it may be used for the Worlds. The non zigzag rule may need a little enforcement! The fluctuating wind also provided a challenge at times. All in all a most enjoyable day.
Thanks to the BBC organisers for the day.
