A thunder storm, heavy rain and no wind at 12.15 didn't stop about 15 blokarters turn up to BBP for the last weekend before Xmas. The wind arrived on cue, getting up to 15 knts for a couple of hours and then dropping 12–15 for the rest of the afternoon. We race "around the mountain" to start, then the 2 carparks but as the wind got up this
got a bit hairy doing the sharp 180 degree turn at the end of the straight at over 50 km/hr. Also at this speed tacking in the carpark
was taking it's toll with the front wheel not always responding. For Haydn it meant weaving between a couple of parked cars but forgot
about the overhanging tree, finishing the trip with front wheel in the air skidding on the pulley whip. For Tony, not quite so lucky, front wheel skidding and just clipping a van parked on the grass, a bit of damage to the POD but Tony safe and back racing within 10 minutes. The rain storm had left some puddles around the back straight which made things interesting, especially at the fast speeds we were travelling
at. Didn't pay to be behind going through this area!
Changed to a 3 m for a while and recorded my top speed for the day. Definitely faster while the wind was up, but changed back as it
dropped again.
Barbeque to finish about 4.30, although a few stayed for the last of
the wind and left about 5.45.
Another great day sailing at BPP.
There will be some fun racing on Thursday. Some will be away, others
are planning to be there.
Hope everyone has a safe and fun filled break over Xmas and New Year
and we get strong onshore breezes everyday at the beach!
See you January.
