Subject: RE: [blokart] Right of way??These are all good points you make but sometimes the environment we race in does not always allow you the room to move in.
At blokart heaven we are on, approximately, a 330 meter race circuit with an average width of 12 metres, which in the right conditions you can get around in 20 seconds. (Real good rush)
We have several guys that don't sail, it is more like low altitude flying, (Don, Paul, Owen & Russell when he drops down) this makes cornering and any other manoeuvres really interesting when there is slower traffic. Sometimes when you come to a corner it is like kicking a conversion from the sideline in a game of rugby, all you can see is a gap of a metre, yet you can fit.I guess it is up to those who are officiating on the day to impose the ruling for passing another blokart, otherwise we just have to use common sense. (Sometimes this can evade us when we have our race face on)
As with many sporting events, there is always an element of risk involved, when you have man & machine working together to win.
My conclusion would be that safety & fun should be the main factors of our sport.
Safe fast sailing to all

Subject: RE: [blokart] Right of way??Hi All,
I am with Lee, it is up to the overtaking kart to manoeuvre around the kart in front.
As to this shouting 'mark' or whatever, you have the wind in your ears, the desire to do better and the humiliation of being at the back pounding in your head, you will hear jack shit.
Somebody said we do not have brakes, try banging the steering over hard against the wind and then back to centre, your back end pops out and kills your speed, or wiggle steering from left to right hard, same effect. Not pretty on the tyres, but neither is piling in the back of another blokart, nasty shaped front wheels.
Lets keep it simple, manoeuvre around other karts the same as any other objects.Tim
