Good to see another great turn out with several first time competitors for Bruce Pulman Park. Another 3 from Tauranga, Brian, Don and Brett joining Colin and Deb, and Don and Owen who had already signed on for the series. Welcome to Laura from Hamilton and Murray and David who travelled across from Tairua.
From Auckland it was good to see Tony, John and Mal back on deck
after missing the first day and new comers Barry, Les who competed in their first Bruce Pulman race. This gives a total of 38 competitors. Unfortunately the weather didn't co-operate with only 5 races being
run, some of them in rain before the wind decided to drop away during
a light division race (while Deb was leading, buggar!). Also one race had rain which destroyed the scoring sheet and finish times so have
only got results for 2 races for each division. Bad luck Matthew, it
was the one you won!
We had TV 3 reporter Tony along who took some footage of the races,
did an interview with myself on the Auckland scene, Ivanpah,
Australia, and then taped on a cam to my blokart to get footage going around the park. Unfortunately this was when the wind was down so very sedate sailing although there were lots of blokarts out at the same time.
Coming up, an extra day next weekend and tides should be good, then
BoP race day at Papamoa and a trip for the Auckland blokarters if the wind decides to blow. 19 June is the Muriwai enduro, 50 km race along the beach and back. We will have a back up plan if the wind is not
kind to us for this event. The next race day is 26 June.
Those doing well in the over 85 kg class were Don, Matthew, Grant2
while Grant 1 had a 1st and 2nd with Russell, Craig, Roger and Sam
also going well in the under 85 kg class.
Full results to follow.
Thanks to those who travelled, we will get a day when the wind stays
all day!!
