So don't be put off by what you read especially from me. With all the different weight and Kart classes everyone should find themselves at the same 'competency' level.

Again, I'd like to add that although the Blokart Track is fun for a dozen or so hard-out racers, I dont think that I could afford to come with the expectation of the usual carnage of man and machine, when the wind and the competitor numbers get up, because of the tight nature of the track. Not all of us have the $$$$$ to throw into our Blokarts when we snap parts. Also I agree that if the event went for too many days, then I would have to think twice about coming, because of work, family and financial reasons! Yes, you can call me cheap, because I am!
Keep it simple and open to everyone.

You're right, the short course racing is great fun and I'm not saying
don't do it. In fact that is what we do most of in Auckland at Bruce
Pulman Park with about 20 blokarts at a time. I'm not advocating
going to a land yacht concept of bigger and faster but with more room
you have a chance to set up courses no matter what the wind. The best
part of the Australian course was the chicane and gybe mark on the
gravel. The most popular track at BPP is the "rally track" which is
half sealed and half gravel. Haven't timed a lap but would imagine
last weekend in about 12 – 15 knts on the Monday we were averaging
under 60 sec laps. I also believe that the NZ championships should be
a test of all skills, therefore how a blokart is set up to handle the
course, how the driver handles the blokart to get the best speed
around the course, and making the right decisions on where to go in
order to get past competitors. And maybe a bit of luck at times!
My comment was that we didn't have many options at present and
Papamoa is therefore it. Interesting that we do have dry lake down
south but no-one knew about it. And yes Tim we do now have permission
to officially use Bruce Pulman Park as of 2 days ago. So maybe a
bigger event, Auckland champs, is now on if we work around other
users.
