Great day yesterday. 15 turned up to enjoy the good winds. Started at 20 knts and came up as the day progressed with some gusts getting close to 30, especially at the southern end where the wind was more constant. The wind had swung to more SSW so needed to tack to get down to the Waikato heads but it was worth it as karters played on the corner with the wind whistling around the bend. The trip back was quick. Most were travelling 60–70 km/hr for the 8 km trip with a top speed of over 80 being recorded. Left the beach about 5pm with a dirty kart, sand in the hair, but a smile on the face. Beach sailing is great! Today the wind has swung to the south (feels like it as well) and is dropping to about 12–15 knts. Those who want another sail, head for Bruce Pulman Park after lunch.
regards
Russell
