It's pretty apparent that besides from that one issue, the champs were well organised and well run and those who were able to attend had a ball.
Having said that, the issue of 'National titles' is an important one and should be debated.

The responses form the organisers only confirms my earlier statement......that our sport should be modeled on the Olympics, and that people who need to be supported by "special" rules can compete in the "special championships" after the main event is over.
So, I guess the Melbourne Blokart Club will be organising two events next
year. What the heck, I might even go over and enter the second event myself and maybe win a trophy...After all I am an Aussie and these Kiwis are too hard to beat!
This underarm, Trans Tasman thing is great for a laugh. I noticed the last
ball bowled by the Aussies in the 20/20 match the other week was a proper one, but he started out to bowl underarm just for a laugh.
At least no-ones started mentioning the sheep thing yet.
Cheers All,

Subject: Re: [blokart] RE: Australian Champs Round Up
Hello everyone
The discussions and accusations going on about the so-called underhandedtactics that we implemented into the Australian Championship, I believe we, Australians have the right of reply.
There was never any underhanded tactics about the Australian Championships
in the way the champion awards where handled.
National titles in any country should be exactly that. "National titles
for national citizens." I being an Australian, am planning to come to the NZ champs later this year and would not expect to be crowned champion at your national event because I am a Aussie. There was many discussions in the lead up to the Australian Championships regarding internationals entering and the possibility of an international winning a class. The decision was made that this was an Australian event and if an international won a class we would count back to the highest Australian point winner and award equal titles. This decision I thought to be the fairest and was never planned as an underarm tactic or malice. This decision was posted on smartgroups both in NZ and AUS and no international competitor made a comment or complaint about this decision. There was a few competitors in Australia that thought that the decision should have been Australian only, but we welcomed international competitors to the championships with opened arms. The sport here in Australia is not as far developed as in NZ and other parts of the world and it was very interesting to see the speed that Russell, John, Owen, Grant and Sam had over all of us Australians and the work we have to do to compete against international competitors. I welcome through smartgroups constructive criticism about our Australian Championships and believe that this is great way to grow our sport of Karting.
Anyway that is my bit as race director of the Australian Championships
Regards Clinton
Pres. Melbourne Blokart Club.
