1PM saw 17–20 Kt winds and 8 karters setting up.

The hoons had chucked a beer bottle on the road which meant a puncture on the first run – bottom of the bottle went through the cart at speed, followed by much hissing and a walk back to the carpark for the spare tyre.

Runs up the road saw some good speeds and keels in the air on the turn into the upper carpark. Clockwise round the mountain saw much tacking on the gravel, and Ray testing the space between the rocks, but the anticlockwise runs were perfect! Best speed clocked on the straight 54 kph – then another tyre went!

Marg took the weight challenge, and confirmed that weight does indeed have the effect expected – even in good winds.

Then came blokart tag in the car park when the wind dropped for a spell – gets really interesting when you can't se who's "he" – you guard everyone suspiciously (in a most un-blokart manner).

Meanwhile the Ballarat brigade had 25 Kt winds, and our boys were hopeful! It seems the Aussies were down on numbers with a lot of people registering and not showing on race day. Looking forward to hearing the results.
