Tim & Lee & any one else that interested!
The issue of "Production" category is so that entrants to Karting are not disadvantaged. They buy their karts and that's it, they set up out of the box and go and not get discouraged by getting whipped by some deviate speed monger. So any rogering of masts etc. will be dealt with at scrutineering, and karts returned to stock. Remember these things were designed for recreation so there will be those guys there and next year they will come back and deal to you.

All categories will be scrutineered for safety, correct assembly and compliance. HEY, who stole the bathroom scales!*&%$(*(

Now the "Performance" category is for those guys who want to give themselves a few bigger frights with speed-up goodies as supplied by the manufacturer, (Example;" Laser") of which by the nature and spirit of fair competition and "One Design" needs to have restrictions or the whole thing gets silly and we wind up shooting Karting in the foot like so many other sports have done. (Karters can use their own blocks and cleats and battens here)These are the only so-called mods allowed in the draft. No CRB's are not production.

Now we all get to race our buddies in the fleet and get an overall placing but will also be placed in our Category and weight division. Example; There may be 50 in a race, but only 5 Karters in the "FB", "ONE TON "Division. They still get to chase around with their fly weight buddies and get in the way of the Performance boffins, which is half the fun, but still take away the prize in their category or division as will Karters in the same race in the other divisions. If the fields are too big for the course or the ability to count we just run heats, divisions or round robin racing.
Electronic timing is going to make this a cake walk, pity we don't have it!

This ensures every body turning up to big events get heaps of racing and hassling their mates instead of sitting around all day and getting in two bloody runs after flying half way round the planet. The whole thing has to be totally inclusive with enough knowledge sharing, comradely banter and fair play so as not to be considered an arse!

Hope this answers your questions with my humble thoughts! What are yours?
By the way, you're buying the next round!

Regards Paul
