Greetings Kem,
Just having organized the 2004 Japan Championships without finals due to lack of wind, I see where you're coming from.
2004 Japan Finals due this coming weekend if winds hold up.
Back to your items in- and outside the race:
Should we race under the blokart rules or water sailing rules?
– I like the blokart ones.
= I say blokart rules, absolutely.
Mainsheet ropes – Is an aftermarket pre-stretched type accepted?
– I don't mind the standard but find the prestrectch smoother and faster reacting.
= If pre-streched or a RED sheet has your fancy, Go for whichever or RED.
Sails – Should you be able to get your own cut, as long as it's within size?
– Rigid wings would be fast:) but I like the blokart sails a good combination between being rigid/fast and flexi/stretch to soften the gusts.
= I don't want to go there;
Masts – full carbon one piece?
– I like the pull apart, packability.
= Let's stick to the blokart issue and have budget decide CRB or not. On the day there can be absolutely ZERO advantage to CRB's as I see it. 5 kilos difference will do much more.
Bearings – Ceramic or standard?
– I don't want to go down the costly ceramic slide.
= Bearings are a matter of choice I reckon. To what degree do we want to discriminate the various types of grease used in standard bearings. Utterly impossible.
Tyres – Aftermarket with size or tread variations?
– I like the Std tyres.
= Let's stick to standard.
Cleats – Adding cleats and locking attachments?
– This is an unfair advantage in marathons, as it takes some work away from the pilot.
= Out with the lazy-aids is my view;
Airfoils – Mudgaurds or side wings?
– Do we allow them in racing?
= Out, is my view;
One more:
POD or DirtSkirt?
– I used a POD in the 2004 Japan Race for simple promotion purposes and also because it is the First Prize. Regardless on a good wind day I would have removed it.
Best regards and
H.N.Y.
Jimi
