Looking at Tim's Waikanae weather site, I would not have got a sail til the tide came in, good one Barry!
We need to add Waikawa to the list of Blokarting beaches.
Waikawa is about 20 minutes north of Waikanae town (only adds 15m to trip, because you don't have to go Waikanae beach!)
You need to watch out for the turn, it is 7 km north of Otaki, on the left after the Manakau turn, then 6km down to the beach.
For best beach access, take the last turn on left and access off the end. Access is a bit like Hokio or Waitarere (before they made the new car park). I drove the Camry in OK.
Four Blokarts made the trip and we were still on the beach at 12:30 (3 1/2 hrs, so that is like Waikanae or Waitarere)
A similar wide beach, about 3km to stream and another 5km to Otaki river (I think, Barry did the measure? I may have it wrong!)
Stream was easy to cross, didn't even get wet!
Watch this space tomorrow, may be able to do a repeat
