Subject: Re: [blokart] ModificationsWell said Bryce. Believing myself to be one of those accused of
'behaving
badly' , I have recently posted messages about mounting a GPS on the
steering arm, inserting a complete pulley whip in the second mastsection
and most recently about mounting a drink bottle cage on the mast tube.
My
collective offerings were discribed by one contributor as 'hot air' . Go
figure.

Subject: [blokart] ModificationsWell said re the knockers.
I do not think a lot of people realize that the bugs is read by
Blokart
sailors all over the globe- after all we expect that the most active
and
largest community is in New Zealand and so we who are overseas are all
looking for information on how to improve our enjoyment for the sport.
So every time someone reduces themselves to behaving badly, just be
aware we are watching you from afar! There is one area that I do think would be useful to be have a regular
update on, and that's the whole area of how to maintain your Blokartand
how to make them run more smoothly. I have visited the Blokart group
in
Mt Maunganui (Bay Blokarts), have been to the factory and have been to
the Land Yacht nationals here for the last 2 years, and what I find
fascinating is how many different variations there are for set up,
working with bearings etc.
There are a lot of people out here who sail alone and do not get tosee
lots of other setups, so is there some way that the collective
knowledge
about setup could be stored in one place so that we could all benefit
from each others knowledge?
I have deliberately headed this message Modifications in the hope that
people who have good ideas will reply to this message using the same
heading, and then all of the items relating to that will build up in
Smartgroups under that category. The use of smartgroups for arranging upcoming sailing meetings is
understandable, but if you do not live in NZ, it's the other stuffthat
is really valuable

Subject: Re: [blokart] knockersHey Bob and everyone else,
Since the setup of the Blokart user group I've watched a number of
scirmishes develop over what seem to be quite small issues and have
several
times come very close to forwarding my opinion but have not. This
latest
scirmish has left me feeling the same way, wanting to add my opinionbut
exercising restraint so as not to add further fuel to the fire.
However, I couldn't have put it better than what you have said Bob
and
totally agree. I would like to add that my whole family have been
into
the
sport my wife, my son, my daughter and I. We each have a kart andthis
comes at some expense but when I saw my first blokart I instantly
recognised
something we could all get into as a family which was affordable. I
have
not been disappointed, not only have we had sports days together and
endless
good times as a family unit but it has come without crippling expense. Please can I make a request that bad remarks toward others be
excluded
from the user group in the future. I say this for all the right
reasons,
the most logical to me being that newcomers and people thinking about
becoming involved in our most illustrious sport may think twice about
becoming involved if they see this type of exchange.Kind regards to everyone

Subject: [blokart] knockersI've noticed a lot of slaging and surly remarks between fellow
karters
lately regarding accessories add ons etc. I feel we are distancing
ourselves
from the prime motivation that prompted us to purchase a blokart inthe
first place. You have to admit it was a mutual attraction to yachting
or
wind propelled related sports or just getting out in the natural
elements
for the pure excitement and FUN of a wind powered sport that is
relatively
fairly cheep.
We are losing sight of this by getting bitter and twisted over new
develop
ments in the sport and quite honestly naive to think that there was no
forsight or vision in that the R.& D. team would not be alive andwell
advancing in the blokart think tank. But also there is no expectation
of
our
fellow blokarters to exceed there budget on their chosen setup. Lets
face up
to it there is a lot of sport- recreation related activities that
require a
"shit" load of money for instance (item1 golf , club fees $400.00 per.
year,
thats average. Gear, set of clubs, maybe average $1500.00. shoes,
trundler,
balls. thats basics, next comes drivers that perform better and a
custom
putter, wet weather gear etc so we all want extras. How about yachting
itself, don't mention it,- never ending expense. Try paragliding, yep
life
insurance price, "sky high", the main basic pack at $4000.00, the
kit,helmet, suit etc. "sky high".
Kite Surfing, Wind Surfing.----- Jet sking -- huge expense, mention
assessories -- don't it's out of this world. How many of you gofishing
--
got a boat? how much is that worth?
Diving – underwater. -- never mind! get the point! stop winging get
over
it and get on with it.
something to think about --- hey we are all like minded to be in
the
sport
lets just get out there and have FUN! I suppose I'll get barrelled
with a
12 gauge over this one and surrounded with razor wire.
cheers Bob Harding--
