Finally! Wind all afternoon. From 20+ knts this morning it dropped away to 5–6 knts about 12.30 and everyone thought "here we go again" but after a brief discussion on sailing tactics the wind came up and everyone headed out for some practice in about 12 knts on a modified short course to keep everyone on their toes. 7 two minute races to get everyone warmed up then onto practicing tactics around a slightly longer course. The wind kept coming up until we had over 15 knts with gusts around 20. Some changed to 3 metre sails for better control but the 4s dominated overall. Best speed I heard was just under 60 km/hr, not bad for a short cours. Wind dropped away again about 4 as everyone packed up. This was fantastic sailing, some of the best we've had this year and a chance to practice in something other than marginal conditions. Blokart grins all around. Next weekend quite a few are heading for Papamoa for BBC race day. Russell
