Glad to hear you are enjoying the blokart and your daughter is also getting into it. We only have our race series twice a month in summer (every second Thursday) and once a month in winter so plenty of time for what you mentioned. We actually do lots of non race activities anyway where we encourage the new members to participate on an even basis. We also have plenty of social occasions and trips where partners join in. Last night we ran self handicap races, the front guys each lap go around an extra mark and the back guys each lap get to cut the corner. This way places change every lap and the back markers get to move to the front regularly. Nicole joined us for the first time last night with her father and did well under this system getting to the front on several occasions.

I agree with Dave though. I'm sure your daughter will soon be wanting to give it a go on her own. Marg's kids all sail with the youngest starting at 5 and now at 6 getting around the car park without a problem for long periods.

Hey Russell and fellow blokart grinners’!

Still being a real new kid on the block I was wondering if ABC would consider the following idea if enough members were interested.

I have a shadow, and since getting my blokart I have had one addicted little 7 year old girl, never wanting to get out of it, which as you can imagine has daddy smiling from ear to ear. (Makes it hard for dad to put the pod on!)

She is loving the kart so much that after the Thursday night when I first got to meet most of you a few weeks back, I returned home to the question asking if I had raced at all.

I said yes just some fun stuff and I thought I actually came 2nd in one of them so felt pleased with myself. Well I returned home from work the next day to find she had made me a rosette saying congratulations on 2nd place ... also to my utter surprise she had made mummy drag her to the $2 shop to buy black cheerleader pom poms (same as daddy’s sail colour)so she could cheer for me when I race ... classic!

Anyway I was wondering if in next Sunday series we could look at including a Shadow class for a few fun races to start the day before everyone gets down to the serious stuff ... last Sunday there were 3 of us running shadows so thought it would be a bit of fun ... even on the in between dates???

Just thought the kids and family members may enjoy it.

So there you go, just my floated idea for your consideration.

Also Russell if you ever need a lap scorer on the Sundays I have a little girl dying to be involved :-)
