Hi All,

It is less than 25 days now to the opens first race, if you go to the Open info page there is a countdown at the top of the page. Also remember you need to be registered and paid before the 20th September to be in the draw for the early bird prize valued at over $500.

If anyone has not registered yet and wants to compete this year,  I suggest you get registered as their is limited places at the open this year so we will be cutting off registrations soon as there is approximately 30 places left.

Extra t-shirts are available for the event if ordered before the 20th September, if you wish to get an extra t-shirt send us an email with sizes and quantities the cost is $35 each.

The event instructions and event specific rules are now available on the blokart.com website.  The rules are slightly different to the rules set by IBRA for a couple of reasons the first being the track is very tight and things can happen very quickly. Secondly we are trying to get away from the complex sailing rules and use more simply car racing rules to encourage people that do not come from a sailing background to compete.  We will also be operating a 'racing incident policy', so if you have contact between two karts that does not significantly effect either competitor then there is no protest action to be taken. This is to reduce the number of protests any contact which is intentional or significantly effecting another competitor could still result in a protest. Click here to download

We have had a few questions about weight categories, these will be decided after registration and posted on the Friday before racing, this is to allow us to even up the the number of pilots in each category.  Below is a list to give you a idea of weight categories and are in kilo's.

Lightweights 50 - 64.9
Middleweights 65 - 79.9
Heavyweights 80 - 94.9
Super Heavy 95+

We have had a few questions around modifications to karts.  If you have made any modifications or repairs to your kart that is questionable under the IBRA rules please get in contact with us.  We will get the head scrutineer or the blokart designers to make a ruling before you arrive so that it can be resolved before you get here.

The Tearaway NZ youth blokart champs are on the 2nd and 3rd of October with a possible half day if required on the 4th of October. So practice before the open on these days will be limited but there will still be chances to practice during the youth champs as they will be having regular breaks including an hour for lunch. If everything runs well the youth will finish around 5 and with daylight savings you should be able to practice until late.

If you have an other questions please email us at 2007...

Kind Regards
Bay Blokart Club Racing Committee
