For all those interested in attending the Europeans, here is the latest update from Nico. This year the event will be held at Ostend. Nico is the European Representative on the IBRA (International Blokart Racing Association).
Please let me or Nico know (email address above) if you are interested in attending or would like any additional information. I hope the attachments come through Jiglu okay – if not (and probably anyway – Ross?) we will post these on www.bai.co.nz (the NZ Blokart Association Inc.).
The IBRA was formed last year following a suggestion from Australia during The Professionals 2006 NZ blokart Open. The founding members were Australia, USA, Japan & NZ, and were quickly joined by Belgium, Spain, Denmark, Holland, United Kingdom and France. The objective is to foster Blokart competition internationally and our first task was to agree an internationally agreed set of equipment & sailing rules. These are the rules we will sail to ay the NZ 2007 Open.
The Professionals NZ blokart Open 2007 will be held between 4th and 7th of October, so this will allow sailors to get some great practice in before the Europeans, and make both events. The European’s have some great beach venues, and those that made it to Yeppoon earlier this year will attest to what a great time can be had at a beach event.
And just to let you know the NZBAI is still planning for a Worlds in 2008 – with the venue being the greatest challenge – but a huge amount of effort is being put into this – we will keep you posted.
Meanwhile, mark your calendars, and start saving!
Cheers
Grant
