Clean the sand and salt water out of your bearings for the first race day of the ABC Winter series this coming Sunday (22 April).
The series will be held the 4th Sunday of every month, April - September, with the following Sunday being a back-up day if we have to postpone because of lack of wind.
The races will be held at Bruce Pulman Park OR the beach. The 4th Sunday in May coincides with low tides on the west coast so if the wind is a decent SW the race day will be at Kariotahi.
Format:
2 divisions: Under 85 kg and 85kg and over, scratch and handicap.
Entry fee: $25 for series or $5 each race day.
Entry form signed and handed in 12.30
Briefing at 12.50 with the races starting 1 pm.
Each division will race separately and I will try and set the course to finish between 8 - 10 minutes. Those not racing will be expected to help run the other division; starting and time keeping at the finish. We need 3 each race.
The park will be shut off for the race days, front gate locked about 12.40 and signs posted at other road entrances for the duration of the event. Cars will have access to the park via the other entrances.
Everyone welcome, good handicaps for newcomers and plenty of help for those wanting to tune their karts. Talk to Haydn about tactics, Grant on battens, Bruce for mast set up, Ross for rules, Orca for starts.
Please park back from the car park on the grass by lake Orca and keep the parked blokarts well back as well. We use this area as a safety zone if the wind is up.
See everyone early on Sunday for registration and payment of money.
