Hi Dave,
Placing the mark 10 km down the beach would make for a long blast but if something goes wrong it's a long way back. While it's a pain having to get someone to count laps it does make it interesting when heading back and looking to see where everyone is. And of course there is always someone close to race. It was only at the turn marks that you really got an idea on how you were doing against the opposition other than a few just in front. I think short legs are better for the racing but maybe a pain for the lap counters.
Next time you may need to come up.
