Hello again,
Well Sunday is looking like it's going to be a very full-on day with numbers now looking likely to be in the 50's+. Big contingent coming from Auckland and even a group of students from McLeans college who will be getting in some practice for the youth worlds competition.
Unfortunately the rain this week has prevented the new concrete being put in on the track extensions. There will be some muddy areas to try and keep away from. We will do our best to try and get rid of the water on the track, but suggest you all bring a spare set of clothes anyway.
Just a reminder about fees. If you do not have a track pass, you need to register your name at reception in the showroom and pay Blokart $10.
Then at the timing trailer, everyone pays $5 club fees, and to hire your transponder is an extra $5.
Wind is looking good at this stage with west to north west winds of 13-15 knots, so bring your full profile of sails. Blokart have once again kindly offered to lend some 5.5's for those that don't have one. I'm hoping we don't need them!
Thanks to all those that have indicated they want transponders. We can pre-register and save some time.
Still planning to get racing away at 11am so bring something for lunch and make a day of it.

See you all then. If any further updates, will send another email later.

Cheers,
Theo

Subject: Race day and Worlds practice day this Sunday!

Dear fellow Blokart enthusiasts,
Theo here.
I have volunteered to step in and give our fearless leader, Richard, a break, in the organization of this Sunday's race day at Blokart Heaven, which is a postponement from last Sunday. He needs and very much deserves to just relax and have a "blast around" the track for a day. I'm sure you will all agree.

The worlds are getting close and things are winding up for what's going to be an awesome event!  I have been watching the Olympics.Fantastic! Considering some of the sports competing, I can easily see Blokarting as an Olympic sport for the future!! Nothing is impossible!

Where was I, oh yeh.    Apart from this Sunday, we have only one more club race day before the Worlds. The September race day is on 14th September and BH have kindly closed the track to hirers for that day.
So back to this Sunday. There are a number of Aucklanders coming through for the day and they are bringing the wind with them. The race day is on!!!!

So this is how it's going to go.
We will plan to start at 11am, so gear up and register from 10am. If you are hiring a transponder, please be early, or e-mail or text us to let us know you are coming, so our wonderful volunteers in the timing trailer can get you sorted! Usual fees apply.
The track will be open to hirers, so with Blokart Heaven's kind cooperation, if there are large numbers of hirers, we may try something completely new. I emphasize, this is new and is experimental only!!
We will have 1/2 hour time slots starting from 11am. So we will race from 11am to 11.30am, iiiiiff hirers are there in numbers we will stop racing for 1/2 an hour and start again at 12 noon, and so on every half hour. So iiiiiiiff there are lots of hirers, we will start racing on the start of each hour. If no hirers, we just carry on.
While the hirers are out there doing their thing, we are more than welcome to just hoon around and have fun around the whole track, but trying not to get in their way. If you feel inclined, go and talk with these people, or sail next to them and give them tips. Remember, these are our possible future club members.

Soooo, if things get really busy and out of hand, and this 'experiment' doesn't work, we will revert to a split track system as we have done before but will use ropes and cones to make the 2 tracks as safe as possible for all.  We will make that call based on how things go on the day.

Compulsory beer or wine (or other drink) and sausage (or not) in the kiosk at the end of the racing day!

Please bring your Blokart grins with you and wear them!

See you then,

Theo

Hi once more all,
For all you travellers, just a quick update on changing wind predictions for tomorrow. Latest forecast is for only 5-6 knots from NW. Hope they are wrong again. Race day still on though.
The 5.5s will be out in force.
Cheers,
Theo
