Hi All,

If you are on the sidelines about if you should come to the club race day or not may be this will help you decide. So it looks like a very windy day at blokart heaven with 30+ knots forecast out come the  3 meter sails. The hirers do not normally operate is this higher wind which will be good for us.

Cheers

Richard

Looks good. Of course this was the forecast for last weekend as well. 3 metres? I'm bringing a 2! Russell

As you know I've already paid and entered but re-reading this I realise it could be read the wrong way. I was not complaining about the cost per sa, but about the way it was made up. I expect the vast majority of the 150 entrants do not have a transponder, so making it an "extra" when it is in fact mandatory is taking the piss. What is going to happen if I bring a transponder (I know ABC have some) and it does not work with your system?  I would have rather have paid a $100 bond (as you have now pointed out they are $165) to ensure I returned it. How many do you expect to loose?

It's the same to race with BBC. I have no idea of how much the "track hire fee" is. $10 to race is not unreasonable. I can see BBC members may not need to hire a transponder, as it could be covered in their club fees and it is normal for club member to pay less to race than non club members, but for all I know the track fee is $50.

If I need a piece of equipment to compete in an event that I would not normally own then I would expect the organizers to provide it as part of the entry fee. Just like the transponders in the Akld. Marathon.

I only have a 3, 4 and 5.5. I'm not racing if you have to have a 2.

Only kidding, keep smiling.

Hi Trevor,

From the a bay club race day point of view, approximately 90% of our regular racing members have purchased there own transponder so at a club level we charge $5 to hire a transponder to cover the cost of purchasing and maintaining the additional transponders available for hiring. The club will need to replace the transponder when the battery is flat at some stage or replace damaged units before that.   Our members who own there transponder and went to Ivanpah, Belgium or Yeppoon did not have to pay a hire fee at those events.

From the worlds point of view as long as you bring a AMB Chipx transponder it will work, so if Auckland club has some or you find a friend that has one commonly used in triathlons. marathons or cycle racing then bring it along.

The track hire fee is set by blokart which they can change at anytime but I understand it is $10 per day.

Cheers

Richard
